How to troubleshoot errors occurred during report design? [message #157670]

I am trying to design some reports. When previewing them, sometimes there

What's the meaning of "There are error(s) in Chart:132? Does it mean the
line 132 of the .rptdesign file? I checked that line but I don't know
what's wrong with it. The Eclipse Exception log seems not logging such
kind of "design error". Where can I get more info about what the designer
is really complaining?

This makes me very difficult to deal with problems encountered during
report design. So far I still don't know how to use the Dual-Column
templates. They always give me errors like this.

Hi Henry,

I agree the error reporting can be improved, maybe you can file a bugzilla
enhancement to have more friendly error messages in the viewer.

"There are error in Chart:132" means there are errors in the chart whose id
is 132 (it would show its name if you name it in your design). If you click
on the + in front of it, you will see a more detailed message with the
exception trace.

What build are you using? Can you post your report design so I can look
what's wrong with it?
