Single threaded IDE? [message #1067593] Tue, 09 July 2013 09:46
Eclipse UserFriend
We have bought a product which uses the Eclipse Runtime (3.5.2) for a modular documentation system.
The scenario we have is that we've installed it on Citrix XenApp-servers as the application seemingly does not provide remote connectivity to its proprietary database and we have users in multiple countries that need access to it.
Now, what we have discovered is that a complex document will scroll with jerky movements; we can observe that one CPU core will go to 100% while scrolling, but the other cores (this is a Xeon 8-core CPU) basically idle while this is happening.

Is there a way to multithread-enable the IDE so it can utilize the other cores? I am aware that there will be a greater degree of utilization when more users use it, but still it's possible to distribute the load across more evenly across more cores if those are all used.

Thank you for your guidance.

Best regards,
-Allan Jensen
