Birt default Excel Emitter [message #1060953]

Hi,

I am having some problems with the default BIRT excel emitter, mostly because reports with a lot of record, generate very large excel files.
I read in the forum that it's because the default excel emitter actually creates XML files.
I tried also other emitters, but i wanted to know if fixing the default emitter (to create real xls or xlsx file) is in the future development plan of BIRT project?

You could file an enhancement request here. What other xls emitters have you tried?

I tried the spudsoft and arctorus emitters and file size is much smaller.
But i was wondering if there are any plans improving the default emitter?
