I have GEF installed and successfully ran the Demo4 example. I am trying
to run the SimpleTreeExample.java file, but am finding that I cannot

import org.eclipse.draw2d.examples.AbstractExample;

I've clearly got all the other draw2d stuff such as
import org.eclipse.draw2d.ColorConstants;
import org.eclipse.draw2d.IFigure;
import org.eclipse.draw2d.PositionConstants;

I am new to eclipse, but I whatever I used to search in the archive didn't
turn up the answer (though it may well be in there). Where do these
examples live?

Thanks
Donna

Are you saying that you can't import AbstractExample? How are you =
trying to run SimpleTreeExample? If you're copying the code into your =
own plugin/project and trying to run from there, make sure your =
plugin.xml requires the org.eclipse.draw2d.examples project (or that =
that project is on the build path).

The easiest way to run the SmallTreeExample would be:
1) Right-click in Package Explorer, Import -> External Plugins and =
Fragments and import the org.eclipse.draw2d.examples plug-in.
2) Find SimpleTreeExample in the PackageExplorer, right-click and Run -> =
Java Application

Yes the problem is that I can't import AbstractExample. My problem is that
I don't know where the org.eclipse.draw2d.examples project is. When I try
the Import->External Plugins..... I do not see that as a choice. I have
installed the GEF examples.... is there somewhere else I need to look?

If I look in the eclipse\plugins directory I see only

org.eclipse.draw2d.doc.isv_3.0.1
org.eclipse.draw2d_3.0.1

So where do I download the draw2d examples plugin from?
Thanks in advance
Donna

Never mind, I found the answer in a combination of two earlier posts:

There are also some code snippets in the package
org.eclipse.draw2d.examples, which is part of the dev.eclipse.org
/home/tools repository. However, these examples are not released as part
of
the GEF/Draw2d plug-ins.

You can also check out the draw2d and GEF examples in the CVS repository.
Here's how to connect to the GEF repository:
http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/index.cgi/%7Echeckout%7E/gef- home/developer/faq.html?cvsroot=Tools_Project#install_cvs

Thanks
Donna
