Can BIRT chart large time series [message #1048213]

I've been evaluating BIRT for a scientific dashboard application. The data that I have is in a MySQL database and I have been testing various software (R, Spotfire, Mathematica, etc) for creating a dashboard report.

My question is does anybody have any experience generating large time series charts with BIRT (40k data points or more)? The initial tests I've done seem to indicate that 1k data points are quick (< 1 second) but once you get over 10k data points it can take minutes.
