I am unable to successfully execute a query against a sybase 12.5 database
using DTP 0.9 - 051206. I receive an error about the "Connection type not
being supported".

Since DTP is targetted to replace WTP/RDB at some time in the future, I
presume your plans include supporting non-derby databases at least as well
as RDB at that time. I am specifically looking for Oracle and Sybase
support. Any timeframes on when your support for these platforms will be
comparable to that offered by RDB?

Ron,

DTP has a proposal for a new project -- Enablement -- which is designed to
address this sort of functionality (and beyond):

http://www.eclipse.org/proposals/enablement/

The PMC is currently trying to determine whether we can port WTP-equivalent
features for db support into Enablement before DTP 0.9 (Callisto/end of
June), or whether we need to wait after that release. Look for updates to
this plan in the coming weeks.
