DTP has a proposal for a new project -- Enablement -- which is designed to
address this sort of functionality (and beyond):

The PMC is currently trying to determine whether we can port WTP-equivalent
features for db support into Enablement before DTP 0.9 (Callisto/end of
June), or whether we need to wait after that release. Look for updates to
this plan in the coming weeks.
