1) Get more RAM - it is cheap.
2) Adjust your idea of what constitutes "too much memory" - 200MB is
really not that much for an application the size of Eclipse.
3) You can limit the amount of stack memory that Eclipse will use for
itself (not for your applications that you launch from Eclipse) by
specifying a -Xmx command-line option. See

That sounds about right, or at least is not unheard of. Presently, the
memory footprint of eclipse is about 140 Mb for me. Depending on how it
is being exercised it will consume additional resources. I would be happy
to see a post describing a "magic bullet" configuration.
