I have had eclipse 3.1.2 crash on me and then not start up again. It seems
to freeze on the splash screen. I am using it on a Solaris 8 platform. I
looked at the log and this is what it says: "A workspace crash was
detected. The previous session did not exit normally." If I delete the
metadata directory, it will then open successfully, but I loose my
settings. Using CDT with a rather large project, deleting the whole
directory creates a large headache. Does anyone know of a better
workaround or a permanent solution?

Thank you,
Jason

Sometimes restarting using eclipse.exe -clean will get past the freeze
problem.
