Hi,

I'm wondering how is BIRT 4.2 implemented to work in Eclipse 4.x.

Looking at org.eclipse.birt.report.designer.ui_4.2.2.v201301221637 plugin for example,
there are dependencies on

org.eclipse.ui,
org.eclipse.ui.views,
org.eclipse.gef,

etc. Nothing about some kind of compatibility layer.

The plugin also uses actionSets and commands as usual in Eclipse 3.x days.

Could somebody explain it to me?

Nothing specific was done moving from 3.7 to 4.2. Just compatibility testing to ensure that there were no issues.

And everything works perfect? Good job from compatibility layer developers and BIRT developers too!

Or maybe it's just a big luck Very Happy

I've not run into any issues, so far, and it's been out for nearly a year. The 3.7 plugins also worked in 4.1 If you ever find any issues, definitely log a bug in the bugzilla. Smile
