According to Sams Teach Yourself Java in 24 Hours, Sixth Edition, after downloading and installing the Android SDK, downloading and installing the related plug-ins in Eclipse, and setting the preferences for the SDK, I should see the following in the Eclipse IDE:

1. New Commands: Window, Android SDK, AVD Manager
2. New Icons: Green Android Icon with Down Arrow

These are not visible in the Eclipse IDE even after closing and reloading Eclipse more than once. Help! What am I doing wrong?

The Android tools are produced by Google not Eclipse. You will need to ask in an Android support forum.
