Hello all, I am fairly new to the eclipse. I recently installed 3.0 and
started using it. However, I don't like the bracket cursor (the [) in the
java editors. How do I get rid of this ? is there any way to set a
particular cursor option ? Thanks for all your help.

You are in smart insert mode.
Play with hitting the "Insert" key to change modes in the Java editor.
In the bottom right of the editor a message indicates the mode you are in.

Thanks. it worked. I guess it was not that obvious. All along I was trying
to find something in the preferences.

Please not that when using Insert mode instead of Smart Insert mode you
will lose lots of smart typing support.

Is there any reason for 'dumb mode'? Why not just have smart mode and let it
use the regular I-beam cursor. You can always edit a Java file in the
regular text editor for the equivalent of 'dumb mode'.
