Hi,
We hope you had a good start into 2013, the year of RAP 2! With the new
protocol and APIs to build on, we're sure it's going to be a good year
for RAP. Let's begin it with the first release candidate for RAP 2.0.
As promised, there were no breaking API changes since M4 anymore. But
one important addition: a new, simple API for custom widgets built on
the protocol (no LCAs involved anymore) and, for the first time ever, we
provide JavaScript API for custom widgets. Please check the New &
Noteworthy [1] for the details.
The release candidate is available on our download page [2] and in our
repositories. Since RAP 2.0 is not part of Kepler, you won't find this
release candidate in the Eclipse Kepler repository. But the final 2.0
runtime and tools will be aggregated in Kepler.
Please also notice that the Equinox feature included in RAP 2.0 (and
therefore also in the RC) is based on Juno, the latest Eclipse release.
RAP 2.1 will then be based on Kepler.
From now on, there's only polishing, and critical bug fixes if we
notice any. Now is a good time to get this build and help us testing!
One more thing to announce: The Eclipse servers move to a new, better
data center and due to the scheduled downtime for this move, we have to
shift the release date. Instead of Friday, Feb 8, we'll publish RAP 2.0
on Monday, Feb 11.
Best regards,
the RAP team
