Hello,
I am using wtp1.0M8 and am experiencing problems with the XML validator
(I had the same problemns with 1.0M7). I recently did a full rebuild of
my project and the XML validator keeps on hanging. The progress window
just says 'Performing XML validation on project ...' and nothing
happens. I have to kill the eclipse process to make it stop. But as soon
as I restart, and automatic build starts, it hangs again on XML validation.
So I have turned of XML validation for now, but would like to know how I
could find out what file the XML validator is choking upon. Now I don't
know if the problem is related to an error in my XML files or to a bug
in WTP.
Also, could anyone tell me if there is documentation on how to use the
XML catalog in eclipse? I have been able to define certain entries in
it, but am getting errors on the validation of my webservices xml files
(that was before the XML validator kept hanging on validation). See my
post of 30 sept 2005. I don't understand how I should add entries for
schemalocations like 'http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee
http://www.ibm.com/webservices/xsd/j2ee_web_services_1_1.xsd'
Thanks a lot.

Wolfgang,
thanks for the reply. The problem was related to your suggestion.
Eclipse could connect to the internet (my proxy settings are OK), but
one of the sites containing a required xsd was down. Copying the xsd
locally solved the 'hanging' problem.
But the underlying problem still remains: It is pretty hard to find out
what file is actually causing the XML validator to get stuck. Is there a
way to see what file the validators are processing? That would help an
awful lot in case of problems like this one. I hope someone can give me
a hint.
Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the information.
There is already an existing enhancement request to show more details
during validation. I found it in bug 110428.
