What has worked in some projects has been for someone (usually the
maintainer) to write a design document. This becomes the focus for
debate, revision, and progress. As with all O/S projects, the
maintainer(s) have final say about what goes into the doc and the threat
that someone will fork the project if they mismanage it.

project I have been putting gathering items from the discussions in this
newsgroup and trying to make sense of them. Over the next week or so the
Equinox website will gain more content talking about the way Eclipse works
now as well as where we want to go. My intention is for this direction to
be fluid enough to handle things we discover but concrete enough for people
to understand where their interests lie and how they want to get involved.

I strongly encourage others to get involved in this process. In the end
Equinox will do things that a) fit in the scope of the project and b) have
interested parties willing to do the work.
