Read this newsgroup discussion "VE out of Eclipse Europa ?". In short Eric
Hecht made it work with Europa. There is interest in developing VE. None
of the commiters come to commit the changes needed for Europa yet.

Guys,

Chris Aniszczyk and I are trying to get to the bottom of what's going
on. It seems clear there is interest in the community to contribute
toward the effort to keep this project alive, but at this point, we
don't even know who currently has commit status. Chris and I will try
to make something happen and will try to raise this issue at the
upcoming Eclipse Board meeting. Stay tuned...

Petr,

Here's what we've found so far:

http://www.eclipse.org/projects/lists.php?list=byproject& ;param=tools.ve
< http://www.eclipse.org/projects/lists.php?list=byproject& ;param=tools.ve>
http://dash.eclipse.org/dash/commits/web-app/active-committe rs.cgi?project=tools.ve

We are initiating discussions to install a new set of active
committers. Anyone interested in being involved as a committer, please
send us your names, if we don't already have them, and we will include
you in the discussions.

The current set of committers are working on other things now and have
not been replaced by other folks from the community. I'm not sure about
the entire history involved...

The project is on life support until the community steps in
There are 400+ open bugs and no commits since May 31st 2007
But there are folks (non yet committers working on it.
Erik Hecht has been working on a Europa build.
He and Francois Granade are working on a build for EasyEclipse.
At the same time the pot is being stirred a bit to get to revive it :-)
It will need every hands and good souls possible to be kept alive !
Could you help?

Hi,
we use VE in the Callisto 3.2 build for develop our RCP apps.
Now we switch from Callisto to Europa and we want to use VE "for Europa".
How we can ask the actual committer to commit the "new" code from the
community?
How we can ask the Eclipse Foundation to change the commiter?
And there is a "new" candidate?

Massimo,

There don't appear to be any actual active committers at the moment so
we are working with the foundation and the Tools PMC to install new
interested parties. We'll try to get this resolved as soon as possible
so that the patches provided by Erik can be committed. If there are
other parties interested in becoming active committers, please let us know.
