Hi,

Is anyone running Erik Hecht's version of the VE for Eclipse 3.3
on Vista? I'm having a few problems that show up as "socket refused"
in the .log
However, turning on and off the Windows firefall has no effect.
I'm just curious if anyone has this combination working.

Thanks

Hi Denis,

I have this combination working. But everytime I upgrade or change the
eclipse configuration (adding a plugin) I run into the same problem you are.
The fix is to remove the eclipse entries from the firewall and then reboot
the system. I don't fully understand why the reboot is required, but this
makes things work. I should also mention that I use the Symatec Antivirus
solution, and not Microsoft's.

After the reboot and after starting eclipse, I get a firewall prompt asking
whether I want to grant network access to the software. Reply with yes!

I hope this helps,
Wolfgang.

I use Vista Business Edition with Eclipse 3.3 without having socket
problems. But eclipse.exe is allowed to access the network with my
configuration. Eclipse is allowed to access the network. Perhaps this is the
problem? I noticed the same when going into debug-mode (The VM communicates
via sockets). Hope this helps.
