Jesse,
EMF is a cool project. :-P
I think one of the key issues for the platform team is the performance
of Eclipse 4.x. Performance work is quite cool in general (at least
for me personally). I've used Yourkit quite a bit (for a customer
project) and I like it. I think they have a license for using it for
free for open source work. The platform team often is frustrated by
the "tragedy of the commons problem". Everyone uses the platform, but so
few are willing to contribute to it, even billion dollar revenue
organizations. I'm quite sure that performance tuning work for e4 would
get attention and gratitude.

Right - e4 is open for contributions - not necessarily on performance
but if you are willing to take a look you are most welcome.
Another small project with not a too big codebase that is stuffed only
by freetime committers is Nebula which creates custom controls, ... and
because we are at the EMF-newsgroup help would be needed on Eclipse
Databinding and EMF-Databinding ;-)

Why did I thought that we are the EMF-newsgroup ;-) only because Ed is
responding doesn't mean it is EMF. Need another morning coffee!
