In Eclipse UI, space lacking is a general problem. One instance of this is in dialog boxes. There is many of them with many options and fields.
But in real usages most of times we fill a single text field and keep other unchanged.

For search boxes this main field is text to be searched, for New Class Box is class name, etc.

I propose a minimal mode for such dialog boxes that include

  1. A text field without any header.
  2. Its caption can be shown gray as text field value that clears as first character typed.
  3. Its results can be shown in a minimal box (hover??) under it.

Need idea. Is this something that you want to contribute to the
development of? i.e. are you able/willing to submit a patch?

Or is this just some functionality that you'd like to see implemented?
