My JAVA is in C:\j2sdk 1.4.2_03 and Eclipse in C:\Eclipse\eclipse.exe.
I tried to start eclipse as
C:\Eclipse\eclipse.exe -VM C:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\jre\bin\javaw.exe

and also as
C:\Eclipse\eclipse.exe -VM C:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\bin\javaw.exe

It is still giving the same error.

Another problem might be that you did not download the full SDK or that
the download is corrupt. Please try again. I suggest to download 3.0 M6:

Have you tried the correct spelling (lowercase "-vm", not "-VM")?

I deleted Eclipse and loaded it again. But still I am getting the same
error.
If I try to start Eclipse with out -vm command it is giving the error
" could not open 'C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\lib\i386\jvm.cfg ".
If I try to start with vm like " C:\Eclipse\eclipse.exe -vm
c:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\bin\javaw.exe " it is writing error to log file. It not
finding JVM in correct location. JVM is in
C:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\jre\lib\jvm.cfg. I don't know where to make the change to
look there. Please help me.

Thanks,
Ram.

Hi Ram,

I had exactly the same problem with exactly the same versions (and
beeing a newbe too). In my case, checking the 'use folder names' box
during unzip soved the problem. Hope it works for you too.

Hi,

I got one of my old projects into Eclipse and trying run it.
I am getting errors while bulding the project like
" The declared package does not match the expected package COM.EMP.BEAN ".
I am not sure these error may be because of JRE settings. I went thru the
manual and my settings are good. When I did Window--> preferences-->
Java-->
installed JREs, it is showing the c:\J2SDK1.4.2_03 as the standard VM. I
am not sure if I need any more JREs to be installed. Can any one please
help me
what would be the wrong ?

Thanks,
