Hello,

We have a number of issues with RAP that we're trying to work out:

1) Sometimes menus do not render correctly, we see a tiny bit of gray menu
background that is at usual length but just a couple of pixels high. This
applies to both main menu and popup menus.

2) In TreeViewer, expanding a hidden node garbles the tree look. The hidden
child node revealed at the leftmost part of the tree with no logo.
Collapsing and re-expanding the tree solves the problem.

3) Sometimes icons disappear here and there. For example in the new wizard I
can see the new wizard nodes but their icons on their left displayed
successfully randomly

4) If I enter into a tree node with drill down adapter, the whole tree is
garbled. Even getting back to the home location doesn't solve the tree
viewer look. There is no work around other then forcing tree to reload
somehow (restart app, close view)

5) Sometimes tree viewer does not show any node at all.

6) Combo boxes does not display their drop down correctly. Sometimes items
cannot be seen, sometimes the V scroll disappears,

7) User cannot navigate in combo box with Up / Down cursor buttons, either
in drop down mode or in drop down hidden mode. Same applies to list views,
when the view is focused, the selected item cannot be changed using Up /
Down keys. Only way to select is to use mouse click.

8) Randomly we get "context disposed" exception. This look random as well
but I can see it happens more when :
a) during server startup if I force application to do something
b) If I restart the server, then I use a stale session in browser left over
from previous run and force it to do something by clicking somewhere, trying
to open a popup menu etc...

We tried firefox 3.0, firefox 3.1, Internet explorer 7

Anyone out there experiencing such things with RAP? Please note that we are
using the latest milestone from the 1.2 branch. We experience the same
symptoms in tomcat container and as run in workbench.

Regards,
Hasan Ceylan

Hi Haslon,

Eclipse has a bug tracking system for handling issues [1]. If you
experience such problems, you should first search the RAP bugzilla to
find out if this issue has already been reported. If yes, the bug report
is the place where you find all information on its state and progress.
You can also set yourself as CC on the bug to receive automatic mail
when the state of this bug changes. If you have any additions, you can
comment on the bug. If there is no bug yet for your problem, you can
open a new one.

Best regards,
Ralf

Hello Ralf,

Thanks for taking time to respond.

The reasons I posted this long list of issues is
- Multiple issues might be related to same reason
- It is a long list of issues
- I had doubts that RAP could have these many issues as it is in use in a
number of production environments.

I am indeed a heavy user of Eclipse Bugzilla - posting both bugs & patches
to a a
number of projects.

Now as I think I explained myself, here's what I found as I dig deeper.

1) Stability and thread concurrency issues are related to :
a) User session is already in a modal context
b) A second request arrives in the same session either by re-getting the
home url or by opening a new tab.

2) Rendering problems were indeed all related to using Firefox 3.1 which is
beta. I use Fedora 11 Beta and for the record for others installing a custom
firefox installation still uses the standard firefox installation of the OS.
Which means that by running firefox 3.0 binary, I indeed was running firefox
3.1 Beta. So as FF3.1 is not supported and with FF3.0 visual problems do not
indeed occurs, my complaint about the rendering problems are invalid.

I'll file a bug for the first issue.

Regards,
Hasan Ceylan

I haven't had time to investigate all but most of the rendering problems
seem to be solved with FF 3.1.B4

Hasan,

thanks for sharing this. We also tested the latest FF 3.1 build and
didn't find any more issues. Nevertheless, if you encounter problems
with FF 3.1, please file a bugzilla.

Cheers,
Rüdiger
