I'd like to have a feature that will enable the toggle between the last open
and the current editor - by a key binding (ala Ctrl-A+Ctrl-A to switch
between two open edit windows).

Does anyone know of any such plugin already?

If I understand you correctly, then you don't need a plugin: Ctrl-Tab
and Ctrl-F6/Ctrl-Shift-F6 will do what you want.
