Update site handling for different eclipse versions [message #126782]

What is the best way to handle plugins/update sites that differ based
on Eclipse version. I have versions 2.1, 3.* and 3m5 in my user base.
Changes in Eclipse/ or new features have forced some plug-ins to change
based on the release they are installed in. Are separate update sites
recommended?? Can a plugin be setup up to "configure itself" based on
where its installed??
