Hi,

I'm trying to install the WTP XSL Tools [1] and have unpacked the zip file
in a subdirectory of the dropins folder, so that I have this layout:

eclipse
dropins
xsl-tools
eclipse
plugins
feature

After restarting Eclipse (multiple times, with and without -clean), the XSL
Tools are not available. OSGi does not know about the bundles (they are not
listed in bundles.info or in the OSGi console).

However the bundles are listed in context.xml and artifacts.xml files under
configuration/org.eclipse.osgi/bundles/270.

I'm running Eclipse 3.4.1 on Linux x86_64 with WTP and a bunch of other
features. Is there any way to debug what is going on here?

Cheers,

Marcus

On the webtools download page it mentions that WTP needs EMF, XSD, GEF
and others ... how many of them did you install?

It works fine in my dropins folder, but I install the EMF SDK first
(which includes EMF and XSD)

All of them.

It seems my Eclipse installation was severely messed up. I had *many*
bundles in several versions at the same time in the features/ and plugins/
directory. I have no idea what lead to this situation (I only used the p2 UI
to update), but it seems to have deadlocked p2 completely since every
update, install or remove would fail with lots of conflict messages.

So I deleted all the duplicates manually, after which p2 updates started
behaving again, and I could install the XSL tools from the WTP update site.
So no need for dropins at the moment.

I'm still interested in finding out how to debug problems with the dropins.

Cheers,

Marcus
