Hello,

i read about the webtools project time ago, but i dont recognize any
movement here. Different from the VE tools project, where a lot of
movement is taken place, the webtools project seems to be dead.

Please correct me if i am wrong, but it seems J2EE and eclipse will not
come together.
I would be happy if somebody can correct me and looking forward to recieve
any posivite answer.

Your observations are correct to a certain extent. Very little
movement-action here currently.

According to some announcements in the past few weeks this is because
they are still attempting to get some of the big players on board.
Once that is complete the project should fire up.

In the meantime I'm using the Lomboz plugins for J2EE.

Yes i understand. But when i am looking at the latest news (e.g. netbeans
will not work together with Eclipse, bea offers an own IDE,...) i am not
sure whether they get some of the big players on board.

Regarding the lomboz plugin, it forces me to use a directory structure,
which isn't that well organized.

Try myeclipse (www.myeclipseide.com) I found that to be what I was
looking for.

New version comes out today with new struts specific tools and improved
xml/jsp editing (I've been sitting on there hitting refresh for the past
hour :)

Riyad,

That works, but you could just subscribe to our newsletter on the website.
We always send a notice to that group as soon as a new release is available.
Push is easier than pull and can save a good bit of clicking. ;-)

that's exactly the same reason I don't use lomboz, besides it comes with
1000 function I'll use just one/two

Berlitz,

IBM is committed to contributing to this project but it seems that the
project is now a victim of the change from eclipse.org to eclipse
Foundation.

The PRC of eclipse.org feels that it is not appropriate to start this
project until the new legal entity, eclipse Foundation, is in place.

At IBM we are working under the assumption that this project will get
going, early in 2004 we hope. We are working on our code base to get it
ready to contribute.

This has been a very frustrating experience for everyone. Let's hope
that the new eclipse Foundation will be worth the wait.
