Senior Staff Software Engineer Tools
Documentum, a division of EMC, is seeking a bright, highly talented, and
motivated engineer with strong Java skills to compliment our team and
provide technical leadership in the ongoing development of our flagship
Content Management infrastructure, with a focus on Platform Tools. As part
of the Tools and Integration engineering group, the engineer will be part
of an integrated team of engineers and architects developing a portfolio
of products ranging from desktop based tools, J2EE based web clients and
integration infrastructure.
Documentum is building the next generation tools on the Eclipse platform.
The Application Builder product will enable developers to compose
Documentum application encapsulating the complete lifecycle from graphical
modeling of schemas, business objects, web services to packaging and
deployment of applications. We are looking for a candidate that is
passionate about applying cutting edge technology to fulfill the vision of
creating a world class Integrated Development Environment (IDE). Strong
technical leadership with particular emphasis on object-oriented
programming and industry recognized design patterns is required.
Experience developing tools in Eclipse will be a big plus. Expertise in
effective use of modeling language for declarative application building
will be well suited.
Motivated individual with a strong tools and UI background, leadership
skills and a team player attitude will play a crucial role in the success
of an exciting and strategic Tools project.
Job responsibilities:
Define/design product architecture
Work with product management in understanding customer needs and
requirements.
Develop a project from start to finish (functional spec, design spec,
estimate, develop, code review, unit tests)
Provide technical and project leadership to team members
Program in Java, Eclipse Standard Widget Toolkit (SWT)
Writing appropriate unit tests
Participate in product documentation
Qualifications Required:
Minimum of 8 - 10 years of software development experience
MS/BS in CS or equivalent. Strong Analytical Skills
Have completed full development cycle for application software product
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong passion for user-focused application engineering
Strong programming skills in Java
Highly proficient with three or more of the following technologies:
Java, Swing, SWT
Strong background in Object-oriented programming and Design Patterns
Good understanding of J2EE architecture
Proven track record in development of software projects from start to
finish on schedule in a quality manner
Knowledgeable in software development best practices
Enjoy mentoring team members
Considered a big plus:
 Experience with Document Management applications
 Experience developing tools for building enterprise applications.
 Expertise in building Eclipse plugins.
 Experience in using Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF), Eclipse
Graphical Modeling Framework (GMF)
