unfortunately, there is no common way to render gradients in a browser,
so we cannot provide gradient support at the current time. Using a
background image can be an alternative, but you'll have to do that
programmatically, since setting background images is currently not
supported by the theming. If you need it, feel free to open an
enhancement request in our bugzilla.
