Setting up MAT with eclipse [message #11227] Wed, 15 July 2009 08:35 Go to next message

I have installed MAT plugin with my eclipse ganymede using the update site
http://download.eclipse.org/technology/mat/0.8/update-site/. However,
after installing this plugin, I do not see any menu or option in eclipse
to open or analyse heap dumps. Am I missing something ? Anything extra
also needs to be installed ?

These are some ways to start:
(i) Select File -> Open File... and select a .hprof file
(ii) Select Window -> Open Perspective... -> Memory Analyzer. Then you
have an additional menu entry "Open heap dump" with the proper extension
filters. You also see the object inspector etc.

If you are wondering if the installation of MAT was successful, check the
plugin details of the About dialog for org.eclipse.mat.* plugins.
