Can't see external javadoc with F2 [message #120226] |

First, if i'm posting the wrong newsgroup, please redirect me, and receive
my apologies for my mistake.
I've started a new project (i want to build some SWT application). I've
added the swt jars to the build path, and eveything is working fine,
except that i haven't managed to get the javadoc working for the swt class
when i use the "F2" (show tooltip description) feature.
I've tried to specify the javadoc location for the jar (actually
referenced the javadoc in eclipse), but it does not work.
Yet the Shift+F2 (open in external browser) works fine -but i'm not sure
it is using the location i gave for the jar or simply the eclipse javadoc,
since swt is part of eclipse.
If anyone would have a clue, that would help me a lot.
thanx for your help,
Seb C.
PS: Note that I'm quite new to eclipse.

Hi,
Eclipse shows javadoc extracted from sources when using F2. You need to
assign the swt source jar to the swt jar in order to get F2 (and hover)
javadoc.
If you downloaded the SDK you find swt sources in the file
" plugins\org.eclipse.platform.[pl].source_xxx\src\org.eclipse .swt.[pl]_xxx\w
s\[pl]\swtsrc.zip", where [pl] is the platform you use (win32, motif etc.).
HTH,
Regards,
Csaba

Hi,
Is it still the case in 3.0 RC1 or is it now capable of showing the
javadoc directly using F2, without the source?
There are some libs i'm using without any source code provided.
Thanks,
Seb
