I've created a quick resource filter using the
org.eclipse.ui.resourceFilters extension point.
It works great for the package explorer and navigator, but when I define
new working sets, the resources I want filtered are still visible. Given
the prolific and scattered nature of the filtered resources, it's a real
pain to create working sets. I've scanned the working set docs but
couldn't find anything related to filtering. So my question is : how do
you apply filters to the resources available for working set creation ?

This is not supported. There would need to be a way to select filters in the working set edit page. You can enter a bug requesting
this feature.
