strange CDT/GMF interaction [message #117688] Sat, 07 April 2007 09:27 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
Hello,

I see a strange CDT/GMF (M6 each) interaction if i install both plugins
(including their prerequisites) on top of eclipse 3.3M6:
In the properties dialog of the GMF components a new property "C/C++
Toolchain edit" shows up.
But between clicking on "Show Properties" and display of the properties
dialog an error box pops up saying
"An error has occured. See error log for details."
After clicking it away the dialog shows the additional property with a value
of
"Unknown element selected"
At this point then eclipse itself is in an infinite error loop; the
properties dialog cannot be closed anymore and i have to kill eclipse via
the task manager.
In the error log i see
Unhandled event loop exception (org.eclipse.ui)
java.lang.NullPointerException: element not initialized !
(org.eclipse.jface)
and several others.
Is this a known problem?

Cheers

Franz

Can you put a full stack trace of the exception here? I suppose most important
is thirst stack trace..

Please raise a bug on this with the CDT. We've been mucking a lot with
our UI components and I can see this being a bug.

Thanks,
Doug
