But the menu editor seems fairly lacking. I can add the menu bar, and
menus and items. But to add text, or mneumonics, I have to hand type them
in. That isn't too bad, but is there a better way?

And FYI - you can access the accelerator property on menus by pressing
the Show Advanced Properties button at the top of the Properties view.

Brent,
You can set the text, mnemonics, etc by setting the corresponding
properties on the Properties view. For Swing there's a rather nice
mnemonic editor on the Properties view. You can also set text on the
menu items by right clicking the item in the Java Beans view and
selecting Set Text. This'll prompt you inline rather than having to go
through the Properties view.
Hope this helps,
- Jeff
