Source folder path must be absolute ? [message #115435] Sat, 02 July 2005 12:23 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
Hi!
Newbie using 3.1 and wst 0.7M5.

Went to J2EE perspective. Right clicked on "Dynamic web projects" and
created a new Hello project. Expanded the newly created project. Right
clicked on Hello and did "create servlet". A dialog appears. The Folder
is /Hello/JavaSource.
At first keypress in either "Java package" or "Class name" I get the
following error message: "Source folder path must be absolute."
And I cannot get around this message. I am unable to use either next or
finish buttons.

Any ideas?

Regards,
Johan

Same here, using Eclipse 3.1 final and WebTools 1.0M5 (not sure what this
0.7M5 bit is about).

A complete showstopper, there appears to be no way round this. I have
tried putting in an absolute path, but the error stays the same.

Any idea where the problem lies?

Any help appreciated, thanks,
Oli

The 1.0 to 0.7 changeover was announced both in the mailing list and
in this newsgroup on June 1st. Check the thread "Update on 2005
release plans". Or read
http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/wtp-dev/msg01804.html

What platform are you seeing this on? Does it make a difference if
you switch the forward slashes to backward slashes ('/' -> '\') in
the path or vice versa?

Linux: I have installed Eclipse 3.1 and Webtools 1.0M5 on Debian Linux and
had the same problem.
Win: Today I did the same installation on WinXP and it works fine.
In the evening I will be back at my linux computer and I will try to use
"/" instead of "\" ... (good suggestion)

Changing the slashes doesn't work:
If I change the backward slashes to forward slashes on my linux (debian
testing/etch) I get: "The source folder does not exist" which is correct
on linux.
So, I'm still not able to go on creating a servlet! Also using the
"Browse..." button to select the folder does not work...
Any ideas??
Is someone able to use the servlet creation with Eclipse 3.1 and WTP 1.0M5
on Linux?

This was bug #102835
(see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=102835)
and it's solved since Integration build I20050708

I've tested I2000710 and it worked fine, but you first have to install the
suitable EMF and GEF drivers (see requirements of I20050710)
