No File | New | Web project menu available [message #115259] Fri, 01 July 2005 12:16 Go to next message

I've installed Eclipse 3.1 and the latest stable builds for EMF, GEF, and
JEM as well as the WebTools M5 runtime. I'm able to configure a server
through the Preferences, but I cannot create a new Web project as the menu
does not exist. I even checked in the Window | Customize Perspective for
the Submenu New, but it does not display there either. I'm just trying to
get this up and running. Any ideas? Thanks.

I also have this problem with a fresh setup using eclipse 3.1 on Windows
XP and the prereqs listed installed.

I should have also mention that nothing shows in the error log, nor does
the configuration show any errors.

Uhmmm... well, you should look for Dynamic Web Project. I can find it
under Customize Perspective -> New -> Web. Doing so put the voice
"Dynamic Web Project" in the menu File -> New.
Alternatively you can always right-click on Dynamic Web Project in the
Project Explorer view of the J2EE Perspective, choose Other, then you
can find Dynamic Web Project under the Web category.

Hope this helps.

Does the Web category show up when you choose "Other..."?

Hi,

I've the same problem as Jon and in my case, the Web category never
appear, neither in open perpective/other, nor customize perpective/new.
The only reference I found after installing WTP is the server view.

Thanks
Denis

Well, the only thing I can think of is there's something wrong with the
installation. Maybe you didn't selected the right packages? I used,
besides the requirements listed in the WTP download page, the sdk
version of the WTP:
http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/downloads/drops/S-1.0M5 -200506302219/wtp-sdk-1.0M5.zip

I unzipped all the files in the same directory and executed eclipse from
there, as usual.

Could you explain in details what you did and which files you used to
install WTP?

Hi,
I have the same problem as denis;

My Installation is as follows:
new installation of eclipse 3.1
then wtp-sdk-1.0M5.zip

Only thing is that I run it with an existing workspace.
I ran eclipse with -clean option

But there is no Web project at all
I also have the server perspective, so WTP seems to be there (at least
partly)

Any Ideas?

thanks,
Wolfgang

As Fabio asked, did you also install the prereqs,
emf-sdo-xsd-SDK-I200506230200.zip, GEF-SDK-3.1RC4.zip, and
JEM-SDK-I20050623.zip?

Happy to hear that :)
It would be interesting to understand why others in this thread have
problems with prereqs installed. Any news about this?
