Hi Lily,
thanks for giving EMFStore a try! I just installed EMFStore 0.8.9 into a
fresh copy of Eclipse Helios SR2 Modeling Tools
(http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/technology/epp/downloads/release/helios/SR2/eclipse-modeling-helios-SR2-incubation-win32-x86_64.zip)
It works fine for me and I get the context menu depicted in this screenshot:
http://eclipse.org/emfstore/documentation/images/share_project.png
Which version of Helios do you use and on which operating system? Can
you maybe attach a screenshot, showing how it looks like for you? Thanks!
Cheers,
Maximilian

Hello Maximilian,
thanks a lot for your answer.
I used windows 7.
Eclipse I used is
Eclipse Modeling Tools
Version: Helios Service Release 2
Build id: 20110218-0911
1. I used the links http://download.eclipse.org/emf-store/releases/latest to install EMFStore. See the figure below (Until now I don´t have the authority to add links, sorry):
https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=26D6254662FCD067&id=26D6254662FCD067!110
After I run the EMFStore Server and EMFStore Client, I got this problem (without "new model element") See the figure below:
https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=26D6254662FCD067&id=26D6254662FCD067!111
2. I even redownloaded the eclipse fresh version and reinstalled EMFStore. But this time other problems came out. After running the EMFStore Server, there is a error. See the figure below:
https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=26D6254662FCD067&id=26D6254662FCD067!113
https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=26D6254662FCD067&id=26D6254662FCD067!112
It´s wired. Each time I just followed the videotutorials and acturally did the same process.
Now I have two eclipse. Each one has its problems of EMFStore above.
I´m grateful when you could figure them out.
Best wishes
Lily

Hi,
there are several actions in the context menue, which are from UNICASE
(www.unicase.org). UNICASE is a tool using EMF Client Platform and
EMFStore, but I think it adds some adaptations. As an example I think it
deactivates the "new" dialog on the root level.
Could you kindly check if you have UNICASE installed in your Eclipse
instance? I do not think it will work well, if you run both in parallel.
I think the best way to get it running would be to use a fresh Eclipse
installation, preferably Indigo. The second error you are posting seems
not to be related to EMFStore. does it happen during the installation?

Hello Jonas,
thanks a lot for your answer!
I have installed UNICASE in my eclipse instance (Helios Service Release 2)
When it deactivates the "new" dialog on the root level, how could I new model element , make changes on them and share projects? I´m confused.
I have tried the indigo. There are errors when I run the EMFStore Server. See the figure below:
https://skydrive.live.com/?lc=2052#cid=26D6254662FCD067&id=26D6254662FCD067!114
When I use helios, there are at least no error when running the EMFStore Server.
But using indigo I can´t even pass the running EMFStore Server step.
Thanks again and best wishes
Lily

UNICASE provides an own model. It is very much like the library model,
but it contains totally different elements, e.g. it contains an element
called "Document". The UNICASE developers do not want any kind of these
elements to be created on the root level of a project. Therefore, they
adapted ECP that only the element "Document" can be created on the root
level. This is available in your right click menue. If you create a
document, you will be able to create other elements underneath it. Still
you will not be able to create only elements from UNICASE, not from the
library model.

This error occurs, because the EMFStore trie to load existing projects
(probably from UNICASE), but this time it does not know the UNICASE
model anymore. Therefore it cannot validate the project. If you do not
have any data within UNICASE you want to keep, you can delete or rename
the .emfstore folder in your user directory.
By default EMFStore will store its data in the user home in the
".emfstore" folder in a subfolder called "server". To change this
behavior you can configure the following start-up parameter:
-EMFStoreHome=<your new path>
I hope this helps, if not, you can also ping me on Skype: "JonasHelming"
