Hello there
I've just installed Eclipse under ubuntu 12.04.
I used the software center to do so and it installed Eclipse platform 3.7.2
When I try to open a new project I can only choose between GEneral/CVS, but not c++/java/python available.
I've installed them all from help->install new software and eclipse does tell me that they are installed.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Uninstall it from Software Center, go to eclipse.org and download the package you want from the Download page. Don't use the package installer from a Linux distribution. they are nearly almost always broken.
