Will BIRT be able to consume popular ORM tools such as Hibernate and
JDO? This would enable us to leverage our existing data sources without
recoding.
Thanks.

we should use both:
JDO connect to any source (RELATIONAL and NORELATIONAL)
HIBENATE connect to only RELATIONAL DB
but HIRBERNATE has advantages in the relational schema

Hi Darren,
In the initial release of BIRT, such ORM tools will be handled as custom
data sources.
BIRT will have extensions for custom data sources, at both report design
time and runtime. The spec on such extensions will be published when
details are available, and we will welcome your feedback then.

Thanks for the reply Linda.
I'll have a look at the spec when it comes out and provide some comments.
