Hello Eclipsers,
i'm just getting my tool set together to begin some work,
and would appreciate some help.
I am having trouble getting Visual Editor to do anything.
I have the latest Eclipse, Java & Visual Editor installed,
but don't seem to have a working VE. There is no
"Open with..." option for Visual Editor. Under the product
config. it says "Visual Editor 1.2.0, Java EMF Model 1.2.0"
I'm thinking that the reference to EMF is not what I want...
Here is what I installed, am I missing some other enabling code module?
* eclipse-SDK-3.2M2-win32.zip
* VE-runtime-N20050915.zip (also tried VE-runtime-1.1.0.1.zip)
* jdk-1_5_0_05-windows-i586-p.exe
I guess the initial question is: I play to design some app. GUI
using SWT (swt-3.1-win32-win32-x86.zip). Should I make an effort
to get Visual Editor working for me? I am already far enough
along just writing code for what I need using swt, but it would be nice
to layout some of my dialogs visually.
Since i'm new to Java/Eclipse/SWT, i'd like to hear some opinions about
these tools together with Visual Editor, etc. Side question: should
I use the JFrame approach? I like learning the lower level details
and actually wish I was still writing graphics apps in C :)
