Hi there,

Im relatively new to eclipse and need some help some window/color settings
on Eclipse.

Im running eclipse on Ubuntu 12.04 linux and really have no problems except for perhaps one.

When I mouse over a method or a class/data type of some kind, many times
a window pops up asking me to do something or displays some info.

Many times, if not all the time, the background is black with a really dark blue
font. I'll attach a linkie to a picture I uploaded to show the problem. Doh, cant do it.(Looks like I cant do that, requires a 25 post minimum)

I'll attach it using the built in file attachment.

As you can see, it is really hard to view from afar. I have to get really close to the monitor to read it. Is it possible to change the background color of the window under eclipse? Or even change the font color? I'm looking for specific instructions on how to change the background with like a step by step walkthrough, since im still quite new to eclipse.

Thanks very much in looking and responding to this post.

My only solution to this, because it's the OS rather than Eclipse that
decides colors underneath, is to adopt Clearlooks. As I don't use Unity,
I can't tell you how to get there, but in GNOME the procedure is System
-> Preferences -> Appearance -> Theme -> Clearlooks.

Sorry I don't have a better answer for you.

Ah perfect!

I'm not too picky about my desktop looks, but its a good workaround.
Ive been working on a few days with the eclipse preference settings trying to
get the colors to change without much luck.

And bingo, turns out that the color scheme isnt controlled by Eclipse, but by the OS.
Thats terrible, lol.

Thanks for the tip and it was definitely a better answer than what I could find with my google-fu.
