chart sizing problems [message #107332] Wed, 11 January 2006 08:57 Go to next message

Hi all,

I'm having major difficulties setting the desired size of charts in my
reports.

I started off by using the width and height fields in the general tab of
the properties editor, but this obviously sets the resulting image's size,
meaning that the image is first rendered and then scaled using these
values.
You can find these settings again by viewing the report in html, they are
used as the height and width attributes of the <img> tag. As a result the
image is completely distorted with ugly and almost unreadable fonts.

My solution is to leave the property editor's fields empty and simply edit
the XML source directly. By using the <Bounds> element inside the <Block>
of the chart, I get a perfectly scaled image, just the way I want it.

The problem is that every time I make changes anywhere in the report, not
only in the chart, my <Bounds>-values are overwritten.

Can anybody tell me if I am using the report designer correctly or if
there are other ways to control the size of a chart image during creation?
How else can you tell the renderer to create an image of a certain size?
Again: By only using the properties editor the quality of the resulting
image is unacceptable, because it is first rendered and then scaled.

Any advice is highly appreciated!

Thanks ... Jan

What build are you using? I never had that problem.

Thanks,

David

Hi Jan,

I cannot reproduce the issue, could you send me your report design file and
a screenshot so I can try with it?

Thanks,

David

Dear David,

thank you for your reply. Just one question. How can I send you the design
and screenshots? How do I find your email address?

Thank you very much!

Jan
