Hi,
I have done many reports with previous versions of BIRT (Eclipse BIRT
Designer Version 1.0.1 Build <20051027-0843>)
They are not compatible with next designers:
When opening with a BIRT 2.0RC(0), I get a message:
------------------
'Unable to create this part due to an internal error. Reason for the
failure: An exception was thrown during initialization'
------------------
and I get the following stack trace in the 'Details' pane:
-----------------
java.lang.ClassCastException
at
org.eclipse.birt.report.designer.internal.ui.editors.parts.A bstractMultiPageLayoutEditor.superSetInput(AbstractMultiPage LayoutEditor.java:558)
at
org.eclipse.birt.report.designer.ui.editors.IDEReportEditor. superSetInput(IDEReportEditor.java:252)
at
org.eclipse.birt.report.designer.internal.ui.editors.parts.A bstractMultiPageLayoutEditor.init(AbstractMultiPageLayoutEdi tor.java:723)
...
------------------
Is there no backward compatibility for the designer?
Is there a way to fix that quickly? (an XSL Transformation between
versions of the design files?)
Where can I find doc on the compatibility of versions.
Why doesn't the rptdesign xml files refers to a DTD or a schema to
validate them?
Can I find more info on the reason of the failure produced at
initialization?

Thanks.
