Two questions:

1. how to set initial size of preference dialog?
2. When I open the preference dialog, every preference page display
correctly. But I close the dialog and open it again, the field editor of
every page will disappear. why? How to make them display again?

Not sure if it works at all. Did you try to set the size of the
underlying Shell (PreferenceDialog#getShell()) directly?

This might haven been caused by this bug:
235175: Preference Page is empty after reopening it
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=235175
The bug is fixed in CVS HEAD and also available in the 1.1.1 RC1
target platform build.
