Web Service Top down Problem [message #102829] |

I am trying to run the "Top down Web service supporting flexible projects"
and am encountering the same error everytime. I desperately need to
create this project because I have a project to create a Web service from
a WSDL document just like this sample.
I tried numerous setup combinations to get this to work and none of them
worked. I originally tried with Eclipse 3.1.0 M6, JDK 1.5.0, Tomcat
5.5.9, WTP M4, and Axis 1.1. The error that I got was posted and stated
that this combination wouldn't work and would be fixed when WTP M5 was
released.
So, I changed everything as follows: I deleted JDK 1.5.0 from Eclipse, I
then selected j2sdk 1.4.2_8. I switched to Tomcat 5.0.28. I am still
using Eclipse 3.1.0 M6, WTP M4, and Axis 1.1. I go to run the sample
program and still get the following message:
IWAB0489E Error when deploying Web service to Axis runtime.
Everything seemed to work up until I tried to create the Web services. I
selected the WSDL document, and then selected New->Web Service and the
process begins to run and the status continues through many different
things. It seems to end at the very end with the message.
Thanks for any help that you can give,
Ben

Hi Ben,
have you started Eclipse with 1.4.2_08?
for Windows: eclipse -vm C:\j2sdk1.4.2_08\bin\javaw.exe

oli,
Thanks, that solved the problem.
While I was researching this problem though I noticed a lot of old
comments about changing Java in in the registry so I checked my regisrty
out and saw that I have a mix of pointers to different Java locaitons. Is
there a simple way to point all of these to the same location? Also,
should they all be pointing to the same location? Does it make a
difference if we have a JRE pointing to a JDK?
Thanks,
Ben
