I noticed this new news group today. What is the intended use of
eclipse.technology versus eclipse.tools?

If you check under "Projects" on the Eclipse website, you'll find that a
new Eclipse subproject was launched yesterday, called the Eclipse
technology project. Check the charter for details, but basically, the
Eclipse technology project is a home for Eclipse related projects that are
more experimental, and less formal than the main production-line projects,
like eclipse.tools. This newsgroup is for discussions about the work going
on under the umbrella of the Eclipse Technology project.

For example, I'm the project lead for the Stellation project, which is
being hosted by Eclipse Technology project. Stellation is a new software
configuration management system developed by my group at IBM Research.
I've got the documentation posted on the website, and I'll be trying to
place the source there later today. We'd very excited to finally be able
to open-source our system, and look forward to finding both interested
users and contributors on eclipse.org.
