Code assist slowness [message #99872] Wed, 15 July 2009 04:04 Go to next message

Hi all,

First up, congrats and thanks to all for some great work on PDT 2.1.
Lots of improvements and bugfixes.

My question is, does anyone else find code assist to be substantially
slower in the latest version?

Previously (2.0 stable) code assist options would pop up nearly
instantaneously upon hitting ctrl-space. Admittedly there were a lot of
bugs and things missing. The new assist seems to be much more complete
and correct, however there is generally a delay of 3 to 5 seconds
between hitting ctrl-space and the possibilities appearing.

Are other people seeing this? Is there anything I can do in terms of
preferences etc that might speed this up? Should I file a bug?

Cheers
Tom

Is I have settted up Code assist trigger to 50ms, but it triggers slower than in the PDT
2.0.0, it's very slow intel core 2 duo 2.8GHz 1-2 second

Developers should do some speed improvments in Code assit's trigger.

Do you plan thiss ?

Yes, it's much slower for me, especially with large projects/workspaces.
I've opened a bug about it (#281550), and there are other similar bugs in
the tracker. I would suggest turning off auto-activation until they fix it.
