I am having some trouble running PDT (as well as Aptana for that matter)
on my computer after upgrading, and after researching this for a couple
days I am at a loss, so I hoping someone can at least direct my research
into the problem, or even better solve it.
I have Slackware 12.2 - updated to -current, and running kde 4.2.
I downloaded Eclipse 3.4, Classic, it seems to run fine, no problems.
I downloaded PDT2.0 and when I start eclipse I get this message almost
immediately after choosing a Workspace and the main eclipse window loads:
#
# An unexpected error has been detected by Java Runtime Environment:
#
# SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0xb2ca598b, pid=5465, tid=3086076112

# Problematic frame:
# C [libswt-mozilla-gtk-3452.so+0x1098b]
#
# An error report file with more information is saved as:

# The crash happened outside the Java Virtual Machine in native code.
# See problematic frame for where to report the bug.
I get the same error if I download Aptana and run that.
I have further tried manually installing PDT via the software update
within eclipse and I am able to run eclipse for a little bit, but
eventually that same error pops up. I have in this case tracked it down
to ALWAYS happen when a code assist window pops up in the editor, After
turning code assist off, I am able to run eclipse+PDT for several minutes
up to an hour or so before getting knocked out by that error. I haven't
tracked down any other specific actions that cause this. But in every
single case the Problematic frame as above does not change.
my Java version reports:
java -version
java version "1.6.0_11"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_11-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 11.0-b16, mixed mode)
Where or what should I be looking for?
Thanks in advance.
Jeff
