No output when Profiling [message #94864] Tue, 03 April 2007 22:15 Go to next message

I am trying to get this example to work:
Java Application Profiling using TPTP

Located at:
http://www.eclipse.org/resources/resource.php?id=137

I have gotten the example to work on my PC at home, but at work it is not
working. After clicking Profile, I never see a PID next to Product, or
when I do it always says PID 0. And so I never see any results in any of
the windows, like Execution Statistics. I only see these errors:

No execution flow data is available for display.
Either you have no trace selected in the Profiling Monitor view or the
current selection does not contain execution flow graphical details.

The Internal Agent Controller, should be running right? I don't have to
start the separate agent?

Is there any log files that I could look at to determine why I am having a
problem?

Config:
Eclipse 3.2.1
TPTP Platform 4.2.4 from Calisto release
JDK 1.4.2_12
Windows XP Pro SP2

I've also tried downloading a bundle from IBM's website with the same
problems.

Thanks,
Joe

1) data is missing when you have filter set not properly configured. but
if you've followed the tutorial i assume that you specified it correctly.
2) check content of {$workspace}/.metadata/.log file for errors

Bartek,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am following tutorial, and have the filter set
like the example. I have tried several times, also with other examples. With
same results. When I run the profile I just see in the Profiling Monitor
panal:
com.example.product.Product at myhost
with nothing else, no PID number following the hostname and no expansion
under it showing Profiling or Execution Time Analysis.

I checked the log file, and I do not see anything being output to it.

I saw on another post about testing the host, so I went to
Windows->Preferences. Then Profiling and Logging, and select Hosts. When I
select Local Direct Connection and click Test Connection, I get this
message:

Remote Agent Controller is currently running.

When I select localhost:100002, it says connection success.

I have installed the RAC, and tried to run that a few days ago, but it is
not running now. I have rebooted my machine several times.

Any further help is appreciated.

Regards,
Joe
