Hi,

I just wondered if there had been any progress or decisions made
regarding the StyledText widget? Is it something which will appear in
the foreseeable future?

Thanks,
Mike

The SWT / JDT compiler teams have created a cross-compiler for Java to
Flex. With that compiler you can translate the StyledText widget into a
..swf. This is not yet production quality, but we have been able to do a
very basic integration within a few days.

So you may want to look here for this technology:

http://wiki.eclipse.org/E4/Running_the_demos#SWT_Flex

If you are interested in how we integrated it we could provide that code
(but it is a hack - only showcasing feasibility).

Does that help?

Sounds very interesting, I'll check it out.

Thanks,

Hi Jochen,

I ran the flex demo (which looks pretty amazing) but the StyledText
widget didn't have any styling with the Java check-box on - the text was
just plain. I clicked on the buttons but nothing happened.

Also I wasn't able to get the dojo example running due to build errors -
is there a support page somewhere I can look at?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

The .psf files for the demos are getting everything from head, thats
probably why it is not working (anymore).

The demo has been working at EclipseCon, maybe you try checking out the
sources with a timestamp around EclipseCon.

You can also post the problems you are experiencing to the
[eclipse-incubator-e4-dev] mailing list.
