I saw this error listed here some place but I am un able to find it.

A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK)
Must be available in order to run Eclipse. No Java
virtual machine
Was found after searching the following locations:
/usr/eclipse/./jre/bin/java
'java' in your current path

The suggestion of -vm j2sdk1.4.2/bin/java.exe didn't work

I tried the change to .bash_profile
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2

I installed this on the dreaded NT and it just worked

Here is how I fixed it
I created a link from /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2 under my /usr/eclipse directory.
I then renamed the like to JRE and it now work.

Nothing like a little help from your friends. ;-)
