Hello!

I succeeded to create a RCP application of my editor. If it runs on its
own it works ok for the most part. Now the plan is to use the editor
inside of another Rich Client. I´m aware that there have customizations
to be made, but one thing I find very confusing. When I open the
perspective of the editor and create a new diagram the toolbar is
extended with an entry that lets me customize fonts etc.. I know this
one is used when executing the editor within the IDE, but I don´t know
why I get it inside a RC application. There are also entries to the
menubar that don´t belong there (Workingsset selection, Open file
dialog, help menu entries) and a Resource perspective. I really like to
know how to get rid of these things and since I found no extension
entries in the plugin.xml that seem to cause this I´m pretty confused.
It´d be really cool if someone can help me out here. I´ve attached an
image so that you can see what I´m talking about.

Thanks,
Christian

Hi Christian,

thanks to some other postings here in the groups I've managed to resolve
the same problem. I added the following method into my
ApplicationActionBarAdvisor, and call it in makeActions. You'll have to
find out the corresponding actionSetIds, though.

private void adjustOutsideActions() {
// Disable unwanted actionsets from other plugins
// TODO How to define this in preferences - other than with the
Customize Perspective?
String[] actionSetIds = {
//"org.eclipse.ui.edit.text.actionSet.navigation",
"org.eclipse.ui.edit.text.actionSet.convertLineDelimitersTo",
"org.eclipse.ui.edit.text.actionSet.openExternalFile",
"org.eclipse.ui.WorkingSetActionSet",
"org.eclipse.ui.edit.text.actionSet.annotationNavigation",
"org.eclipse.update.ui.softwareUpdates",
"org.eclipse.ui.actionSet.keyBindings"};
ActionSetRegistry reg =
WorkbenchPlugin.getDefault().getActionSetRegistry();
IActionSetDescriptor[] actionSets = reg.getActionSets();
for (int i = actionSets.length - 1; i >= 0; i--) {
for (int j = 0; j < actionSetIds.length; j++) {
if (actionSets[i].getId().equals(actionSetIds[j])) {
IExtension ext =
actionSets[i].getConfigurationElement().getDeclaringExtensio n();
reg.removeExtension(ext, new Object[] { actionSets[i] });
}
}
}
}

HTH,
Jari

ps. At the very moment I'm struggling with embedding a GMF generated
editor into my RCP App, too. I'd really like to see how one can feed the
thing with one's own (business) objects (from Hibernate)...

Thanks a lot,

this works pretty good. Do you have any hint for me how to "hide" or
remove a Perspective from the "Open Perspective" Dialog? This concerns
the "Resource" Perspective which is not explicitely defined as far as I
know. I suppose it results from the navigator dependency of GMF. Thanks
again.

Christian

Does anyone know which actionSet is responsible for creating the toolbar
entry that lets you change fonts, color etc. You can see it in my
initial post (the one I reply to) in the attachment. It´s the big lower
bar that I marked with a red circle. I want to deactivate the bar while
keeping the functionality (which is also provided in the right click
context menu of the editor) but I can´t figure out the corresponding
actionSet id. This really annoys me. Thanks in advance.

Hide coolbar in generated DiagramEditorWorkbenchWindowAdvisor class like
this:

public void preWindowOpen() {
IWorkbenchWindowConfigurer configurer = getWindowConfigurer();
configurer.setShowCoolBar(false);
}

Thank you. This would work if I didn´t need the coolbar for other
things. I´m about to embed my editor into a big rcp application.
Therefore I search for a way to explicitly disable this special entry,
while not affecting the others. I even think it could stay if it wasn´t
shown in all! perspectives which doesn´t make much sense. I didn´t find
an actionSet by now which is responsible for creating this kind of
behaviour. Any ideas?

Hello Christian,

The diagram toolbar items are contributed using GMF's Contribution Item
Service.

Please see the following discussion:
http://dev.eclipse.org/newslists/news.eclipse.technology.gmf /msg03726.html

Search for this text
<!-- toolbar menu groups -->
in the plugin.xml file of plugin
org.eclipse.gmf.runtime.diagram.ui.providers to see where they are
contributed.

I know this isn't the answer you were hoping for. :-(

Regards,
Cherie

So there is no way to get rid of unwanted toolbar contributions besides
the approach of replacing the contributor with your own one at the
moment? Did I get this right? Am I right saying this will not change
within the next 3 months? I got the suspicion myself when I took a look
at the provider extension point.

Greetings
Christian

Hello,

Is there anything new regarding the issues with the toolbar? It would be
really nice if the toolbar entries contributed when an editor instance
is running could be kept inside the perspective the editor is located
in. At the moment the toolbar entries are shown in every perspective of
the Rich Client Application as long as there is an editor instance running.

Greetings,
Christian
