I did these updates via Update Manager. As far as I could tell, the update
processes all worked okay; there were no error messages as such. However,
when the update process ended, there was a warning that said something about
some sort of incompatibility - sorry, I'm afraid I didn't write it down and
don't recall what it said - and it offered me the chance to go ahead or
stop; I think I told it to go ahead. Aside from that, everything seemed to
go fine. I wish I could remember what that warning dialog said....
I can create new classes via the New Class dialog but all that happens is
that the new class is added to my project: the editor never displays it so
that I can add my new code. I've had a look at my source files for both new
and existing classes via the operating system and they seem fine in PFE
(Programmer's File Editor).
How do I get out of this mess? Do I have to run some kind of conversion
utility to reformat my old source files? If yes, where do I get it?
Can I back out this update and go back to 2.1RC? That was working fine; I
just thought I was due for an update so I tried Update Manager for the first
time.
I'm running on Windows XP with all critical service installed.
I would appreciate your help with how to resolve this problem.

Why don't you just use "eclipse -data <path-to-workspace>"?
